Despite having a perfectly adequate first name, I just go by my last name—Peet.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in New Zealand wanting to be an architect, but an art teacher at my high school had a life-changing impact on me and helped me discover my love of visual arts. I went on to study graphic and web design.

I left New Zealand less than a week after graduation to go to Japan. I spent 4 years there, absorbing the totally new, alien culture, and cutting my teeth as a designer at a Japanese printing company. In this pre-social media era I co-founded a monthly, printed, bilingual gig guide in Osaka, spent my weekends exploring the city by skateboard and paper map, digging for vinyl records and DJing at underground hip hop bars.

In 2009 I was ready to try something totally new all over again and decided to move to Europe. I chose Amsterdam as a base, a small city but undoubtedly one of the cultural epicenters of Europe and a hub for design and creativity. I landed a job at 180 Amsterdam where I learned as much as I could about traditional advertising making global campaigns of print ads, billboards and broadcast spots. In 2013 I moved in with the cool kids at Sid Lee Amsterdam where digital was better understood and embraced, to help bring one of the most iconic print brands, Absolut Vodka, into the digital era.

In 2015 I chased my now wife to New York and joined Barbarian, where digital was not just embraced but in their DNA. We live-streamed video from drones, and jumped into the still wild-west world of VR without a playbook, to create content that could cut through.

When my wife took a role at Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, we moved to the left coast and I joined Swift. I naively thought I understood social when I joined, but I quickly realized how much I had to learn from them. Diving into the incredibly fast-paced and ever-evolving world of branded social was a chaotic experience, for which the best antidote is long hikes in the forests of the Pacific North West with your dog.

When we moved (again) to the Bay Area in 2018 I decided I wanted to work in more that two measly dimensions, so I joined Imprint Projects to learn about helping brands create cultural content, community programming and branded experiences.

This path of traditional, digital, social and experiential experience has given me the the toolkit of skills to be an effective Creative Director that can help brands grow.

I’m now back in New York and working as a Senior Creative Director at Feeld—a dating app on a mission to elevate the human experience of sexuality and relationships.
